I ate here twice while in the Atlanta area after hearing a recommendation from a colleague. I enjoyed the food, the historical atmosphere (I suggest purchasing the cookbook which details the history) and the friendly service. I will definitely be back when I am in the south again! P.S. I suggest the Sweet Potato Souffle and the Tomato Pie. Submitted By: Jacki Mitchell

My husband a GA native and I being from MI decided for our 8th wedding anniversary we were going to celebrate in Atlanta, this year. Friday's dinner was informal and we heard so many good things about Mary Mac's Tea Room we decided to take a chance. ABSOLUTELY THE BEST in Atlanta, I have called all of my family in MI and am anxious about their visit, we will have good food and fun at Mary Mac's. Excellent customer service, the food tastes great and the restaurant is very clean and well-kept to have survived 55+ years. I have also told my co-workers so we will order for lunch, this week. THIS IS A MUST! Submitted By: Yvonne

I and some colleagues, from Portland, Oregon, were recently in Atlanta for a meeting and went to Mary Mac's for dinner. The food was wonderful--so good, in fact, that we came back the next day with other friends for lunch. You served the best fried green tomatoes I have eaten. Perhaps the dish we all enjoyed the most was your delicious Pot Likker. I wonder if you could send the recipe, so I could make it for friends out here? Thanks for great food and fine service. Ray, our server, and Miss Jo, the Ambassador of Good Will, were super nice. Submitted By: Michael

I like southern-style cooking every now and then and even more so when it can be shared with others. That was possible for a group of us on a trip to Atlanta for the Public Health Preparedness Summit in February. (Having been there a year ago, someone had chosen Mary Mac's for a reunion.) The anticipation of Mary Mac's increased each day until the evening that 10 of us had dinner there. We were served by Ms. Eleanor, who made our stay quite pleasant, being patient with us as she took our order and calling each one of us "Precious" when she came by our table. Some of us shared the family-style menu option and left quite satisfied having tasted a variety of colorful, tasty, and rich foods and desserts. Mmmm! Mmmm! We were recently in Atlanta with a convention and the Mary Mac was recommended to us. It was outstanding. The Salmon croquets and fried green tomatoes were as good (or better) than my Grandmothers! Our waiter - William - was equally as wonderful. Thanks for a great dinning experience. Judy from Texas Submitted By: Judy

Everytime we come to Mary Mac's it is a delightful experience. I love the fried chicken, yams, mac and cheese and my wife's favorite is the fried tilapia and the banana pudding. The atmosphere is so family like, it makes you want to hug everyone in the restaurant!! We love this place and has become our favorite place to eat. We've never had anything like this in California where we are from. Submitted By: The McBrides

I am from NC and learned about Mary Mac's from the owner, John Ferrell, who is one of the nicest people I have ever dealt with. We travel to Atlanta about once a month and don't even consider anywhere else to eat! I took my 5 year old granddaughter this summer and she was scraping every drop out of her pot licker and cornbread bowl! The food , the service, everything is great. Mary Mac's is simply - THE BEST! I have been coming to Mary Mac’s as long as I can remember. In 1996, I was a security guard volunteer at the Summer Olympic Games. During the two or so weeks the games were in Atlanta, I stopped by several nights after my shift to eat dinner at Mary Mac’s. The place was always packed and you could tell that a lot of the people there were from different countries. One night I overheard a conversation between a waitress and a lady who, from her accent, appeared to be from Australia. The Lady stopped the waitress and said “These are the most delicious potatoes I have ever eaten. Would you mind telling me what is in them?” The waitress paused for second, smiled and then said “just salt, pepper, and butter”. Which proves (at least in my mind) that simple home cook’n and southern hospitality are appreciated all over the world. Submitted By: Alex
