I wanted to write once again and express my thanks for th ewonderful care and customer service that yall extended to me on my two recent visits to your restaurant while I was in Atlanta. When wonderful customer service is received, I feel it deserves mention. A special thanks to James and Flo for answering all my inquisitive questions about the history of the wonderful restaurant and taking ther time to treat me extra special on both of my visits. I flew all the way from Atlantaic Canada to have aSouthern food experience at your restaurant and fortunately for me, it was everything and more than I had hoped for. I hope it will not be too long before I am once again enjoying the wonderful food you make. The owner of Mary Mac's Tea Room is fortunate to have such a wonderful and dedicated staff working for him and should be very proud! Submitted By: Chris & Daniele

I am a native Atlantan, and Mary Mac's has been a part of my life for as long as I can remember. As a child, my parents took my brother and I there for great food and careful attention from Miss Lupo. Now, after so many years and so many memories, Mary Mac's is better than ever! I no longer live in town, and can't return as often as I like. A dear friend of mine of many years and I meet regularly for lunch to visit, and we always go to Mary Mac's...still. Everyone is so friendly and so gracious, with a feeling that you just don't get at most places these days. And the food is as great as ever! Thank you for the years and the memories. I went to Mary Mac's this afternoon with a group. There were 12 of us and we had a wonderful waitress named Flo. The restaurant was packed to the hilt but we received excellent service as if we were the only ones in the place. She was witty, attentive and added to my awesome experience visiting Mary Mac's for the first time. I had a ball! The food was delicious!! Fried chicken, black eyed peas, cracklin' bread with pot-licker soup, steak and rice with gravy, fried green tomatoes, okra, pecan pie and banana pudding. Our table looked like Thanksgiving had come early! I will definitely return to this special place where we all felt to welcome and at home. Submitted By: Shae

Mary Mac's has such a great reputation in Atlanta and upon moving here, I begin to visit frequently with out-of-town guests. However, I learned this morning that Mary Mac's is not just good for dining in but also carry out (in an emergency). I'd totally forgotten about my responsibility to bring a side item for the company Thanksgiving luncheon. I'd recently gotten a job downtown and of course, did not want to be the only one who had not brought anything for the luncheon. I remember thinking that the only place I was familiar with in the downtown area that could provide a Thanksgiving worthy side item was Mary Mac's. I contacted them frantically and to my surprise, a friendly voice answered the phone (they were not even open yet) and assured me not to worry. After sharing my dilemma, she placed my order quickly, correctly, and painlessly. And 2 hours later (although I would not suggest cutting it this close, due to their popularity), I arrive to a piping hot pan and a smiling friendly

I want to extend my highest praise and appreciation to Mary Mac's catering service and its manager, Amy Bending. I have never been involved with catering any event before, but I selected Mary Mac's to cater my Dad's 80th birthday celebration. I wanted it to turn out perfect for my Dad, and they definitely made that happen. Their excellent customer service and promptness in handling every detail was more than I expected. They took all my concerns away and I was able to focus on the celebration. The food was a true southern spread and was very delicious. Everyone commented on the great food. It pleased my Dad and that's all that matters to me. It was food that could be enjoyed my everyone. Thank you for a job well done from start to finish. I recommend you highly for any catering event. I will be back for more. Pat Johnson (Fayetteville, Ga.) Distance did not matter. Submitted By: Pat Johnson

This was recommended by an acquaintance of ours in Columbus, OH, where we live. When we came to visit our son, who goes to school in ATL, we made it a point to visit your tea room, and boy were we glad! The service was great the food was great. The entire dining experience was a pleasure. We'll be back! Submitted By: Alan B. Tyson

I'm so glad to find this page! My parents went to Mary Mac's on dates in the 1950's. My in-laws went there on special occasions from the late 1940s until their recent deaths. My mother in law absolutely loved a chance to get to eat the corn and have the chicken. So many good memories at this wonderful place! It's like coming home every time we come in the door! If you have one night in Atlanta to enjoy true Southern cooking served with a side of Southern Hospitality, then Mary Macs is the place to go! This is truly Atlanta's Dining Room. The walls are dotted with pictures of many celebrities that have enjoyed this famous dining destination since the 1940's, however it is the classic southern foods, fried chicken, real whipped potatoes, fried green tomatoes, mac-n-chesse, collard greens, country fried steak, pork chops, sweet potato soufflé, the list goes on and on that bring in the locals and the tourists looking for the lost art of authentic southern fare. The home cooked breads consisting of yeast rolls, sweet rolls and cornbread are a meal by themselves. This authentic Southern Restaurant is truly an Atlanta icon and should not be missed. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and eager to please. In addition there is a Good Will Ambassador that visits your table and will rub your back! Thank you Mary Macs for making everyone feel so welcome

Best Country Cooking ANYWHERE!! The Fried Green Tomatos and Table Wine of the South are wonderful! You've just got to try the POT LIKKER! And you'll even get a backrub from Jo, if you're lucky! This is our favorite restaurant. We drive 45 miles almost every Sunday to eat lunch at Mary Macs! Submitted By: Susan
